Getting Started

While you can create a basic budget without an account, we recommend registering for full functionality. Registration is completely free and gives you access to:

  • Free Plan Features:
    • 1 saved budget
    • Share with 1 person
    • Basic budget management
    • Print and PDF export
  • Premium Plan Features ($2.99/month):
    • Unlimited budgets
    • Unlimited sharing
    • AI-powered Budget Edge insights
    • Budget health scoring
    • Priority support

Registration only requires an email address, username, and password. We respect your privacy - we don't sell your data or require personal details.

Creating a budget is simple:

  1. Click on the "New Budget" button in the navigation bar
  2. Enter a name for your budget and select your preferred currency
  3. Follow the step-by-step process to add:
    • Income sources (salaries, benefits, etc.)
    • Fixed expenses (rent/mortgage, utilities, etc.)
    • Variable expenses (one time purchases, entertainment, etc.)
  4. Review your budget summary and save

The application will automatically calculate totals and your remaining balance.

Fixed expenses are regular, predictable costs that typically remain the same each month, such as:

  • Rent or mortgage payments
  • Loan repayments
  • Insurance premiums
  • Subscriptions with fixed monthly rates

Variable expenses are more variable or discretionary costs that may change month to month, such as:

  • Groceries
  • Entertainment
  • Clothing
  • One-time purchases

Variable expenses can also be tagged with categories for better tracking and visualization in reports.

Managing Your Budgets

To edit an existing budget:

  1. Go to "My Budgets" in the navigation menu
  2. Find the budget you want to edit and click the "Edit" button
  3. Make your changes to any section (income, fixed expenses, or variable expenses)
  4. Click "Save Budget" to update your changes

All changes are automatically recalculated to show your new balance and financial overview.

Yes, you can share budgets with family members or financial partners. Sharing capabilities depend on your plan:

  • Free Plan: Share with 1 person per budget
  • Premium Plan: Unlimited sharing

To share a budget:

  1. Open the budget you want to share
  2. Click the "Share" button in the budget toolbar
  3. Enter the email address of a registered user
  4. They'll receive an email notification with access to view and edit the budget

Shared users can view and edit all aspects of the budget. You can remove sharing access at any time using the "Shares" button.

To print or save your budget as a PDF:

  1. Open the budget you want to print
  2. Click the "Print" button in the top right corner of the budget view
  3. A printer-friendly version will open with clean formatting
  4. Use your browser's print function (Ctrl+P or Cmd+P) to print on paper
  5. Or, select "Save as PDF" in the print dialog to save a digital copy

The printed/PDF version includes all your budget data and summary calculations.

Account Management

To update your account information:

  1. Click on your My Profile in the top-right corner of the page
  2. To change your password:
    • Click the "Change Password" button
    • Enter your current password
    • Enter and confirm your new password
    • Click "Update Password"
  3. To change your email:
    • Update your email in the email field
    • Enter your password to confirm
    • Click "Update Email"

You'll receive confirmation emails for any account changes made.

If you forget your password:

  1. Click "Login" in the navigation menu
  2. Click the "Forgot Password?" link below the login form
  3. Enter the email address associated with your account
  4. Check your email for a password reset link
  5. Click the link and follow instructions to create a new password

For security purposes, password reset links expire after 24 hours. If you don't see the email, check your spam or junk folder.

Troubleshooting

If your budget charts aren't displaying correctly:

  1. Make sure you have an up-to-date browser (we recommend Chrome, Firefox, or Edge)
  2. Check that JavaScript is enabled in your browser settings
  3. Try refreshing the page
  4. Clear your browser cache and cookies
  5. If using a mobile device, try rotating to landscape orientation for better chart viewing

If problems persist, try accessing your budget from a different browser or device.

If you encounter an error or unexpected behavior:

  1. Note the specific action you were trying to perform
  2. Try refreshing the page and attempting the action again
  3. If the error persists, log out and back in
  4. For persistent issues, contact us through the Contact Us page with:
    • A description of what happened
    • Steps to reproduce the issue
    • Your browser and device information
    • Any error messages you received

We aim to respond to all support requests within 24-48 hours.

Premium Features & Subscription

AI Budget Edge is our premium AI-powered budget analysis feature that provides personalized financial insights and recommendations.

When you click the "Budget Edge" button on any budget, our AI analyzes:

  • Your income and expense patterns
  • Spending categories and trends
  • Budget balance and financial health
  • Optimization opportunities

You'll receive:

  • A comprehensive budget health score (0-100)
  • Personalized recommendations for saving money
  • Insights on spending optimization
  • Actionable advice for improving financial wellness

This feature is exclusive to Premium subscribers ($2.99/month).

Upgrading to Premium is quick and secure:

  1. Click any "Upgrade" button throughout the app
  2. Review the Premium features and pricing ($2.99/month)
  3. Click "Start Premium Today" to proceed to secure checkout
  4. Complete payment through our secure Stripe payment system
  5. Your Premium features are activated immediately

Premium benefits include:

  • Unlimited budget creation
  • Unlimited budget sharing
  • AI Budget Edge insights
  • Budget health scoring
  • Priority customer support

You have full control over your Premium subscription:

To manage your subscription:

  1. Go to "My Profile" from the user menu
  2. Click "Manage Subscription" in the subscription section
  3. You'll be taken to the secure customer portal where you can:
    • View billing history
    • Update payment methods
    • Download invoices
    • Cancel your subscription

Cancellation policy:

  • Cancel anytime with no penalties
  • You'll retain Premium access until the end of your billing period
  • Your account automatically returns to Free plan limits
  • All your budgets and data remain safe

Your data is always safe, even if you cancel Premium:

  • Budgets: All your budgets remain accessible, but you'll be limited to 1 active budget on the Free plan
  • Sharing: Existing budget shares continue working, but you can only share with 1 person per budget
  • AI Insights: Previous Budget Edge reports remain visible, but new analysis requires Premium
  • Export/Print: You can still print and export all your budgets

If you have more than 1 budget when downgrading, you'll need to choose which one to keep active or upgrade again to access all budgets.

Guest User Experience

Yes! You can create a complete budget without registering by:

  1. Clicking "Create New Budget" from the homepage
  2. Following the step-by-step budget creation process
  3. Adding income sources, fixed expenses, and variable expenses
  4. Reviewing your complete budget summary

What happens next:

  • You can print or save your budget immediately
  • At the summary step, you'll have the option to register
  • If you choose to register, your budget data is automatically saved to your new account
  • If you don't register, you can still use the budget but won't be able to save it for later

This makes it easy to try Our Budgets risk-free before deciding to create an account.
